Sipped Ink

In 2014, I started a summer read-along project as a way to (essentially) peer pressure myself into finally completing David Foster Wallace’s giant-sized novel Infinite Jest (1996). I assembled a small group of like-minded readers, and we had a good time reading the book together and sharing our thoughts. Each weekend I sent out an email newsletter, with notes on the week’s reading.

The read-along has now become an annual summer tradition: a growing group of readers take on a lengthy novel together, and I send out a newsletter each Sunday discussing our progress. Below you’ll find archives for the eight volumes of the read-along thus far:

2022 vol 8: Maggie Shipstead — Great Circle
2021 vol 7: Marlon James — A Brief History of Seven Killings
2020 vol 6: Margaret Atwood — The Blind Assassin
2019 vol 5: Donna Tartt — The Goldfinch
2017 vol 4: Roberto Bolaño — 2666
2016 vol 3: Hanya Yanagihara — A Little Life
2015 vol 2: Haruki Murakami — The Wind-Up Chronicle
2014 vol 1: David Foster Wallace — Infinite Jest
