In 2014, I started a summer read-along project as a way to peer pressure myself into finally completing David Foster Wallace’s giant-sized novel Infinite Jest (1996). I assembled a small group of like-minded readers, and we had a good time reading the book together and sharing our thoughts. Each weekend I sent out an email newsletter, with notes on the week’s reading.
The read-along has now become an annual summer tradition: a growing group of readers take on a lengthy novel together, and I send out an email each Sunday discussing our progress.
